Support Me

Direction Green is a grassroots project with a simple mission: to inspire greener living in Cambridge and beyond. It's not a big organisation with sponsors or funding. It's a small, independent site created out of passion — and run with care.

This space exists to bring together resources, tips, and ideas that help people make eco-friendly choices, connect with nature, and take positive action in their everyday lives. From cycling routes and local shop directories to articles on climate solutions and sustainable living, the content is free to access and always will be.

Buy Eco Art and Help Keep the Site Alive

Creating and maintaining Direction Green takes time, energy, and resources. That's why I've created a way for you to support the site — and it's a little different from the usual donation buttons.

One of the most meaningful ways to support Direction Green is by purchasing eco-themed artwork through my Etsy shop. Every purchase helps fund this site — while also spreading a message of sustainability and hope.

Our artwork isn't mass-produced or generic. It's designed with care, rooted in environmental values, and often features original phrases, symbolic imagery, and themes like trees, roots, the cycle of life, and the natural beauty of our world.

I've chosen print-on-demand services to reduce waste, keep the footprint of each print low, and ensure that your order is printed close to home — I only offer UK Shipping.

Here are a few types of designs you'll find in the shop:
Posters featuring tree symbology, climate slogans, and inspiring quotes
Wall art that celebrates nature in and around Cambridge
Limited-edition seasonal prints that focus on themes like renewal, rewilding, and reuse

A Bit About Me

Hi — I'm the person behind Direction Green and the artist behind the prints.

I live in Cambridge and have worked for many years as a programmer, mostly using PHP and Python. Over time, my passion for sustainability and the environment has grown from a personal interest into something I felt called to share.

I've always loved nature — especially trees — and found inspiration in both science and art. The idea of building a site that combines practical resources, educational content, and creative expression felt like a natural next step.

The artwork you see in the shop is drawn by me, often using a graphics tablet with a stylus. I try to keep the designs simple, meaningful, and original — the kind of images that speak quietly but clearly. I also focus on using language thoughtfully, coming up with my own phrases that reflect the values of care, balance, and responsibility.

This is a solo project, but it's also a labour of love. I'm not in this to get rich or go viral. I just want to contribute something useful and hopeful — something that encourages people to connect more deeply with the world around them.

Why Your Support Matters

Running a site like Direction Green involves more than just writing articles and drawing pictures. There's hosting to pay for, time spent researching and building tools like the recycling directory, and long hours designing layouts, writing code, and curating links.

By buying a print or sharing our work, you're not just getting a nice poster. You're helping keep this platform alive, helping it grow, and showing that you value independent, ethical content over ad-filled, clickbait-driven sites.

Your support helps:

- Cover hosting, tools, and domain costs
- Fund more time for writing and research
- Keep the site completely free, ad-free, and open to all
- Create space for new features like a carbon calculator, sustainable jobs board, and air quality data section
- Make art with purpose — and share it with the world

If you're not in a place to buy anything right now, that's okay. You can still help by:
- Sharing the site with friends and local groups
- Following us on social media (coming soon!)
- Signing up for the newsletter
- Submitting tips or local resources I can include

Coming Soon…

I'm working on building more ways to support Direction Green, including:
- A newsletter with exclusive tips and early access to new art
- A blog series on behind-the-scenes artwork and creative process

If you have an idea for a poster, a phrase you'd love to see brought to life, or a resource I should include on the site, please reach out. Direction Green is a community as much as it's a website, and I'd love to hear from you.

Thank you for visiting, reading, and being part of this. Whether you support us through a purchase, a share, or simply by using the site — it means the world (maybe literally).

Let's keep growing something good, together.
